APDL are going 32bit anyway By Chris Williams. Published: 5th Aug 2003, 15:23:38.It's just a matter of time, money, PR APDL and its software arm ProAction, have publically clarified their position on producing 32bit compatible versions of their software. Over the weekend we published an article on the issue, which raised a few eyebrows.
"We have a number of products which are already 32-bit compatible, plus considerably more which could be. We are completing detailed analysis on each and every product to see which are viable and which are not", Dave Bradforth stressed in the statement. Dave added that "sales to date, ease of conversion and potential upgrades/new sales in the future" are considered when selecting which apps to give the 32bit treatment. APDL/ProAction may also charge for 32bit updates, if necessary. RISC OS desperately needs more and more software if it's to keep up a momentum. Earlier in the year, we were grateful to see APDL picking up where Clares left off - APDL/ProAction currently publish familiar titles including Schema 2, ProArtisan 24 and Rhapsody 4. Now that RISC OS is well and truely, and at long last, into its fully 32bit era, we can't afford to see old yet useful software slip behind. We're expecting further details of exactly which titles will be made compatible and we're especially glad there's been such a positive turnaround following the weekend's head shaking and stomach turning guilt trips.
