On First screenshot: Beagleboard runs RISC OS 5 desktop:

Very nice work! My BeagleBoard just arrived and I'll be starting to look at it from a video perspective.

On The new apple of my eye:

The rather odd way to rename a file is to click on it once and then press enter. Surprisingly, it doesn't open the file!

My MacBook Pro is the perfect complement to my Iyonix. I've not spent a single weekend fixing computers in the last 2 1/2 years!

On A call to ARMs:

lym: "there is already a Gnash port needing finishing off" - I have been trying for months, on and off, to build Gnash via the GCCSDK Autobuilder, but it just doesn't work for me. I have tried on both an Ubuntu Linux box and an Intel Mac. I am not certain if it is possible to build it on a RISC OS machine. Regardless, I have had some help from the GCCSDK mailing list folks, but we just can't determine what is wrong. Without a working build environment, I cannot put my graphics expertise to use on the platform, much as I'd like to. Perhaps there are many people like myself who would like to help, but are unable to make the leap towards actually getting stuff to compile.

On Early Soundblaster Live Iyonix driver released:

My SBLive driver does not use the DSP at all, it delivers a clean audio signal. You can certainly adjust the bass or treble (when the driver is complete), or perhaps program the DSP with extra software. If it seems clinical, then it is possible your speakers do not sound good with uncoloured input signals. Have you got a good pair of headphones you can use to hear the difference? I listened to the audio quality vs my MacBook Pro and the on-board Iyonix audio, and it beat both hands down (using good headphones and speakers).

On Early Soundblaster Live Iyonix driver released:

Julian, Ian, I would be very pleased to help with this, and appreciate the offer. Since I live in the USA, it may be easier to send a minimal set of parts (motherboard, any required expansion cards, disc image), and I can put everything into a case here. My email address can be found at the bottom right of [link]

Star Fighter 3000: The Next Generation was born from the 3D0 version of the original SF3K that was ported back to RISC OS and this year freed from programmers' hard discs for the platform to enjoy, writes Andrew Weston. In this review Andrew weighs up much-improved graphics and sound against playability and stability.
