On Archive booklets review part two:

scl4c0rn: Whats so bad about editing the modefile? Hold shift down while selectiong the mode in the adjust menu of the iconbar icon of StrongED to open the modefile.

If you want a GUI way of changing the modefile go to link:sedmodeed.sourceforge.net

On Web gallery apps compared:

flypig: "Although on second thought that may be a recipe for disaster!"

Probably. I for one don't agree with you. I think the RO3 styleguide is right about this thing.

You can use both tab and the cursor keys to move between the icons, there is no need for another one. IMHO.

krisa: Why don't you just use the Zap font with StrongED? I have not tried it nor do I know anything about Zap fonts but: StrongFont converts Zap Fonts to fonts suitable for use with stronged. Zap fonts can be found in the download section of [link] It supports 8x8 and 8x16 bitmaps and Zap link files. link:[link]

On Archive booklets review part two:

StrongED was the first editor I tried when looking for a replacement for Edit many years ago and I have used it since - mostly for programming. I have never had a reason to use a different editor on RISC OS. On the PC at work I use jEdit which has a similar functionality.

On Could A9 be a digital oasis in a desert of PCs and Macs?:

Vasileios: Same issues as the first ones: unlikely to be cheaper than the A9Home when the needed developer effort (to get RISC OS running on the chipset) is taken into account.

On Could A9 be a digital oasis in a desert of PCs and Macs?:

I'm saying there would be less than 1000 interested in buying this machine. I'm pretty sure (given Select/Adjust numbers) there are much more RISC OS user than that - but they won't all be interested in this machine.

On Could A9 be a digital oasis in a desert of PCs and Macs?:

Vasileios: What is the point if it does not run RISC OS?

I make it 100GBP for the chipset with all thats needed (max RAM, high CPU clocking etc.) + postage + VAT.

To turn the chipset into a RISC OS machine you would have to add the cost for the OS itself (50-100 GBP ?), developing work needed to make RISC OS run on this chipset (*), a harddrive, a case, a psu, assembling cost.

*probably the most expensive part.

I don't think it will cheaper than the A9Home.

On Castle confident in Scotland:

Yes, I will need an email adress for that.

The program is a beta version though and its ca. 200 KB. I have switched drag'n'drop load off as that does not make much sense with that application, but if you want to test it just switch back on with ResEd.

On Select 3 online release:

well, I just copied the content !InsSelect.Resources.rm to !Boot.Resources.!System.Modules and restarted. I did not bother with the installer just used !Configure to install the bootimage and thats it. This is probably not the nice and recomende way to do it, but it works.

Hope this helps.

jmcarey: In the Filer.Thumbnailing configuration window you can set the 'largest image' maybe that also works for the image viewer (?).

What banner do you mean ? I have not seen the startup banner as I use the Germs (used to be part of BlackHole) to display a picture during startup. I think in this select release you just have to point a system variable to a picture of your choice to display it instead of the startup banner.
