On Recent developments have left me feeling...:

I think that this weeks poll is now well into last months poll. Perhaps we need a poll on the poll bar colours?

On Is there a way out of RISC OS version number hell?:

So in essence the ROOL software is Iyonx only unless it states otherwise. So for 80%? of the RISC OS market ROOL has no relevence.

Even if the foregoing is a simplistic statement and "some" of the ROOL software is usable on non-Iyonyx systems there are only a few clues as to any functionality improvements that may make it worth taking the risc [sic] of potentially hosing your system.

I apologise for what appears to be a ROOL bashing exercise - that was not intended. I applaud those people who are able to do this kind of work but weep when all these manhours are wasted for want of clear, meaningful guidance.

On Is there a way out of RISC OS version number hell?:

Just get this discussion back on topic... I wish there was a way out of "This version Hell" As a user, admittedly using VA, I have RISC OS Adjust 4.39. Can I safely use the updates produced by ROOL? all of them? some of them? which? Or as I perceive they are only for Iyonx users?

Some guidance from someone would be helpful and neither the ROOL site or the ROL site are much help in this respect!

On Qercus reviewed but renewed?:

Thank you to Qercus (jc) for the chance to renew my subscription and have a good look at what I would be missing if I didn't.

I did things rather differently to Martin Hanson in that I only looked at issue 283. My reasoning being that if someone is sending out a free magazine to tempt me to renew it should be the "best" of the current bunch. My original subsciption was to Acorn Publisher not to Acorn User as I was, and still am, interested in DTP and computer graphics. Issue 283 was very much lacking in the DTP and graphics side of things and to be honest did not do a lot for me. So in fact this issue confirmed to me that my decision not to renew my subcription was the correct one. Sorry John.

Bias - It is not often that I agree with JC (I have kill-filled in the news groups) but in this case you cannot claim a bias between Castle and ROL when one side has produced nothing new, not that other one has done that much! :-)
