On Acorn grandee Steve Furber to visit usergroup:

Visit by Prof. Steve Furber

Many of you may have been wondering if the visit by Prof Steve Furber will go ahead, following the recent spate of bad weather. Well, we have been in touch with him today, and he is still fully intending to come on Wednesday evening. The only thing that would stop him would be if the police and motoring organisations were to put out strong advice not to travel, and having checked the Met Office web site for the Manchester and West Yorkshire forecasts, this seems very unlikely.

You can check for yourself if travelling from outside the area at [link]

Looking forward to Wednesday evening!

On Wakefield 2008 show theatre line-up revealed:

Thanks for the plug Drobe although one theatre talk has been missed off your article.....

As aside I have decided that I will use this years show attendance as a benchmark, as to whether I do any more after this one, if attendance is the same or greater (preferably greater then last years event), its likely I will attempt another one. Otherwise, it may become too much effort and time. It enough of a hassle trying to get one exhibitor to pay their stand bill (they will not be allowed to set-up) unless it is paid before the event either. I will name and shame nearer the time.

I seem to spend fair too much time having to chase things so the show planning can be completed etc.

Thanks for the support, glad you enjoyed it. :-) I spent to much as well.

Regarding the venue, regreatbly we can't use this venue again, on 16th June it closes to be re-opended as an 'adult friendly' wacky warehouse.....

Our old venue at Thornes park athletics stadium, is no longer viable cost wise.

This venue was my third possible venue, we have already started a search for a possible venue for next year.

As for clashing with FA Cup final, well we have sometimes missed it in the pass and we do take note of it when planning, In fact the FA told us it would be on the 12th not the 19th. I won't repeat what i said when we discovered it was actually on the 19th.

You posted the same comment I think on the IconBar !

The RISC OS 6 was not just for the show day. In fact the sngle machine licence offer allows you to upgrade for the different in price upt the 31/07/07 for instance. Those renewing also get it for 99 ukp currently or 105 ukp if not a foundation member but the offer was for everyone at 99 ukp. The stand was Very, very busy with new subscribers and renewals. Actually I think they were the busiest stand aprt from R-Comp and M W software.

On Wakefield 2007 is this Saturday:

In reply to AW:

We would have loved to have had a show theatre with presentations etc.. But there was no room available. It boiled down very, very simply if we had to have a show theatre then there was not a show, without one we could at least run a show. we chose the latter.

In addition a show theatre costs money.
