On New RISC OS ownership claim may derail ROOL RiscPC ROM release:

If one of the requirements for ROL to meet was to submit those early changes to the head licence owner - the intent would presumably be that they would grant the head licence holder rights to use them. (Whether or not those changes were used is another matter). If not then what is point of that condition in the licence?

Now this article suggests they are trying to essentially take those submissions back - does that mean ROL could be breaching the conditions they had to meet to get their new found rights? It makes no sense- can someone show this licence so we users know where we stand?

I had strong hopes that with development moving to ROOL a new level of cooperation between ROL and ROOL would happen. Seems not.

On Cybervillage closure 'end of an era':

Clicking "new RISC OS news blog" link above here resulted in pop up city and it attempted to install a "registry optimiser" :( (browsing from windows on firefox(1.5.0.8))

So ermmm go there with caution if you are a windows user :/

Sad to see cybervillage go - it is indeed the end of an era.

On Personalised special offers for non-Select and Adjust users:

Possibly a lot of over reacting going on. My interpretation:

It reads to me like the sliding scale is still present - but this time ROL will work out what you have to pay rather than providing confusing tables with multiple prices.

This way they can negotiate grey areas (eg people who subscribed for a while but lapsed and people who still subscribe but have received nothing for a while).

hEgelia: Maybe they just need to know how many machines you have in case you are ordering ROM sets? I suspect the asking nicely bit is a joke.

I think this is a case of a well meaning, but could have been phrased a lot better press release. By eliminating one source of confusion it has added another.

Why do people always have to assume the worst?

As for me - not interested - Iyonix release please :)

On Cocognut freely available finally:

The grokster case is being mis-reported and sensationalised by the press (shock horror).

If in doubt in such cases I go to groklaw: [link]

Good summary at the top of the page - plus the full text of the decision.

On ROL to launch Adjust on CD:

I thought cino\castle were working on a new DVD filer? Is this related to that or do we have another duplication of work between the two camps?
